SILLY WORDS CAN MAKE YOU WINK, EVEN BLINK, OR MAKE YOU THINK*

If words were used the way intended
All nuances would be upended
And meanings never could be blended
Perhaps for some that would be splendid.

While all words have definition
Very few think this condition
Restricts or limits their transmission
They use words minus cognition.

How did I get here? You need beg
On FB my niece lauded "vague"
Unleashing in me quite a plague
Of thoughts to send to pull her leg.

But then my sense of humor started
To provoke this verse light-hearted
And for those who wish me thwarted
Just assume that my mind farted.

Perhaps my license so poetic
Leaves you either apathetic
Or provides a smile kinetic
If my rhyme should prove prophetic.

Language is not for the weak
Trust me, I know what I speak
This is not all "tongue in cheek"
Proper usage is not chic.

Let me leave you with a thought
Using words the way you ought
May not matter to you squat
But neither will the things you thought.

What you say may still be heard
If you use improper word
But the meaning you've transferred
Might just be a bit absurd.
